Facebook troubles

Posted by summer | at 1:08 AM

Not a single day goes by without someone mentioning FACEBOOK, yes that's right the social networking era is here. I must confess that i was one of those avid early users of the website, however, we quickly realized the havoc it can cause to a relationship. Actually, it my the husband-to-be who was fiercely against its use, at first i couldn't understand his objections ( i was becoming a facebook poker addict), stepping out from this hype i am now thankful that we are no more on evil facebook.

So what's all the drama about?

This January, Facebook hit the 150 millionth member mark, and as Mark Zuckerberg (founder) puts it, if facebook was a country it would be the eighth most populated country in the world, amazing isn't it?

ITS UNCOOL

I think facebook is now DATED, they are not cool anymore, the early adopters have come and gone, and now moved onto better things.

Facebook gives immature people permission to inflict the world with their narcissic and attention seeking comments. Some people have posted about 300 pictures of THEMSELVES, taken mostly by THEMSELVES!!

PRIVACY SCARE

Facebook clearly states in its terms of use that everything you put on there belongs to facebook, so you will never know to whom and where your private information might land. Fortunately for me, i was intelligent enough  not to use my last name in my old account. phew!!

It is also quite scary that anyone can find out anything about you, from the color of your hair to your anniversary date, what happened to privacy?

Imagine a potential employer googling your name, and here you are, in your drunken and not so employable profile pictures, not a very appealing, isn't it?

WASTE OF TIME

Yes it's a waste of time, and i know i have a lot of it, since i finish work early and am on holidays three times a year. But i know many of my friends wasting their precious time searching for people who don't even care they exist, or looking for a little attention instead of spending time with their kids or partner, or even doing and learning something more creative. Whatever has happened to family life, this is probably contributing to the dwindling moral values in the society, parents would rather spend time on the internet than with their own children.

ITS EVIL!!

So how many of you have been "IGNORED" by a friend, and felt really humiliated,  and how can i forget all those not so nice comments some people have the guts to write on your wall? Those ugly pictures your so-called friends have of you and deliberately post them AND tag you too, so they can look nicer next to you. Have you ever noticed how EVERYBODY look like rock-stars on their profile picture?? Do they really look like that in real life? I have heard many stories of people finding out that they have been dumped on facebook, their partner went from being "in a relationship" to single..ouchh that hurts!

In short, facebook has become the talk of the town in just a few years, but the whole social networking thing does not seem appealing anymore. So please, DO NOT put my pictures on your facebook, i will sue you. Some people simply don't understand these unspoken rules, you need to ask before using anyone's pictures.
